(TargetLiberty.org) – Monday’s removal of protestors from Lafayette Square has prompted a congressman to call for a special prosecutor to investigate Attorney General William Barr. Representative David Cicilline (D-RI) is outraged protestors were “suppressed” to secure President Trump’s route to St. John’s Episcopal Church. The president visited the iconic church Monday following an arson attack Sunday night.

Cicilline says the removal of protestors and the use of riot control equipment was a “…reprehensible display” to insulate the president from what he implied were peaceful protestors. However, the US Park Police tell a different story. They say when they attempted to move a large group of protestors, they were pelted with thrown objects and had to use smoke canisters and pepper balls to end the violence.
Around 50 Secret Service agents have been injured in the area of the White House since the disorder began last week.
