Harvey Weinstein Faces New Charges In Assault Case

Infamous Harvey Weinstein Gets Another Heaping Dose Of Criminal Charges

(TargetLiberty.org) – Former film producer Harney Weinstein is a sex offender who was convicted in the United States of abusing two women while in the industry. On June 8, officials in the United Kingdom announced he’s now in trouble across the pond as well. The BBC reported Weinstein will soon be facing charges on two counts of indecent assault that allegedly took place in London in 1996.

The disgraced movie producer’s accuser is one woman now in her 50s. Police did not give any more details about the incidents or the alleged victim. In fact, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is very tight-lipped about the situation to ensure a “fair trial.” CPS Head Rosemary Ainslie said authorities have authorized the assault charges against Weinstein but didn’t comment further. There is no statute of limitation on sexual assault or rape in the country like in the United States, so British authorities can bring any charges they find against anyone from any time period in the UK.

The sex offender is currently serving a 23-year sentence in New York, but is sitting in a jail cell in California awaiting five assault charges in the Golden State that took place from 2004 to 2013.

Do you think the US should do away with the statute of limitations for certain offenses?
