(TargetLiberty.org) – On Friday, Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley stated she was not interested in being anybody’s vice president as rumors have been circulating that she is on Former President Donald Trump’s short list of potential vice presidential candidates.

According to The Boston Globe, Haley had told voters at Mary Ann’s Diner in Amherst, New Hampshire that she was not looking to be anyone’s vice president and that this was not on the table. She added that this is something she has frequently stated.

Several media reports have recently noted that Haley is on the short list of possible vice presidential candidates that former President Donald Trump is considering. Other potential names on the list are New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, the House Republican Conference chair, and Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance.

However, reports have also noted that many in Trump’s inner circle are opposed to Haley being the VP, including Donald Trump Jr., who had stated in late December that he would go to “great lengths” to ensure that Haley would not be the VP.

Haley has been campaigning a lot in New Hampshire, however, according to the FiveThirtyEight polling average she was still trailing behind Trump by 15.3 percentage points. Following his win in the Iowa caucuses Trump has managed to increase his lead in the Iowa caucuses. Haley had finished third in the caucuses.

Haley had specifically mentioned that she was not interested in being vice president when a resident had stated that he was going to be voting against Trump and was concerned about Haley being his VP.
