(TargetLiberty.org) – On Tuesday, GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley stated that the U.S. had never been “a racist” country. This was in response to the suggestion that she might have a hard time winning the Republican presidential nomination due to her gender and color of her skin.

During an interview on “Fox & Friends,” co-host Brian Kilmeade asked Haley whether she believed the Republican party to be “racist.” In response, she argued that she did not and that the United States had “never been a racist country.”

She added that each day their goal was to make things better than they had been the day before, and that while they were not perfect, each day their goal was to ensure that things would be better than they had been the day before.

Speaking about her own experience growing up in rural South Carolina as a brown girl, Haley argued that he has at some points experienced racism. However, she argued that she avoided raising her children in a way that would make them believe that they were in some form of disadvantage. She further noted that while she had faced some racism when she was younger, things have become a lot better over the years and that the situation now is much better than it had been before.

Haley pointed out that the goal was always to lift everyone not to cause division based on party affiliations, gender, or race. She added that the United States has had enough of that, which is why she doesn’t want her kids to grow up thinking that they would be at a disadvantage because of their color or gender.
