Governor Cuomo Addresses Harassment Allegations

(TargetLiberty.org) – New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) is trying to talk his way out from under harassment allegations that threaten to derail his political career. Unfortunately for him, it might be too little, too late.

The first harassment allegations against Cuomo surfaced last December, followed by accusations from a second woman on February 27. Cuomo initially denied any wrongdoing, but on February 28, he was forced into damage control mode. On Sunday, he admitted that New Yorkers “deserve answers” to the allegations, and apologized for any offense to women who “misinterpreted” things he’d said. He still denies any inappropriate physical contact and insists he was just being “playful,” though, so the “apology” looks to be pretty thin.

Two New York state senators – both Democrats – have demanded an independent investigation into the claims, and on Saturday they were joined by NY Attorney General Letitia James. Cuomo tried to set up a tame investigation by a retired federal judge hand-picked by his staff, but on Sunday, he caved to growing pressure and handed the probe over to AG James. It seems even his fellow Dems are abandoning him.
