(TargetLiberty.org) – The Clerk of Courts Office in Fulton County, Georgia, has acknowledged an error in prematurely publishing an indictment against former President Donald Trump on their website before the grand jury approved the official charges against him and 18 others.

In a conversation with WSB-TV, Ché Alexander, the Fulton County Clerk of Superior and Magistrate Courts, recognized the oversight, stating it occurred during efforts to ensure the seamless management of the indictment process.

The indictment, prematurely visible on the Fulton County Court’s website Monday afternoon, outlined charges that were consistent with the official indictment made public later that night. The charges mentioned breaches of the Georgia RICO Act, incitement of a violation of oath by public officials, conspiracy for submitting counterfeit documents, among others.

Reuters was the first to spotlight the document. Following this, Fulton County Court took down the document from their site and issued a statement labeling the document as “unauthentic” and cautioning the media to only trust documents stamped with an official case number, filing date, and the Clerk of Courts’ name as they are the official filings.

Alexander, expressing her regret to WSB-TV, clarified her intention was swift dissemination of information to the public, and the error was purely unintentional. In her words, “I’m only human, and that led to the oversight.”

Refuting claims of political bias regarding District Attorney Fani Willis’ indictments, Alexander shared, “I was testing the system and mistakenly saved it to the press queue. It was just a draft, not an official record or finalized charges.”

On being questioned about her choice of the term “fictitious” for the prematurely released document, she elucidated that it was the most appropriate term to describe its unofficial status, lacking the official stamp.

Concluding her statement, Alexander revealed her office had been inundated with hostile communications following the error. She emphasized her commitment to transparency and clarifying the situation.
