Former UFC Fighter Saves Children From Deadly Crash

(TargetLiberty.org) – Every once in a while, an ordinary person finds himself in a position to save lives. That’s what happened recently in Encino, California when an ex-UFC fighter sprang into action after witnessing a chilling scene.

On August 12, Brendan Schaub was headed to dinner with his wife when he came upon a crash scene. On a recent episode of his podcast, “The Fighter and the Kid,” he explained that he saw a child on top of a wrecked car waving for him. He parked his vehicle and ran over to help the child. That’s when he noticed there were other kids and a woman still inside.

The female passenger, later identified as 26-year-old Aimee Garcia, appeared deceased. Schaub helped the children, ages 1 to 7, out of the car by breaking a window and pulling the kids through it. According to the retired fighter, one of the children repeatedly said he didn’t want to die.

Police later arrested driver Cesar Iban Torres, the father of the children and Garcia’s boyfriend, for allegedly intentionally driving the wrong way on the freeway. He struck a tractor-trailer, killing Garcia. Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced he’d charged Torres with one count of murder, child abuse that would likely lead to death or great bodily injury, four counts of attempted murder, resisting arrest, and assault with a deadly weapon.
