(TargetLiberty.org) – The Department of Homeland Security and the FBI are warning that there is an increased level of threats to public safety this holiday season as a result of the Israel-Hamas war. The FBI has noted that it is monitoring these threats closely as they expect that they could potentially increase during the holiday season.
In a PSA, the FBI noted that they were taking all threats extremely seriously and that they were planning to work closely with their law enforcement partners in order to determine how credible the threats were, as well as share information and take action where necessary.
The ongoing tension in connection to the Hamas-Israel conflict has also resulted in an increase in the “threat of lone actor violence” especially in the cases of faith-based or other celebratory mass gatherings. The bureau has argued that these targets are likely going to continue being possible options for lone actors who might use them for a symbolic or ideological statement.
The FBI has also pointed to terrorist media organizations that have called for violence and have celebrated the possibility of attacks against the Jewish community, as well as violence that has already transpired against the community. As they have pointed out following the October 7, surprise attack by Hamas against Israel there has been a spike across the country in the number of attacks and threats. These have also included an increased number of active shooter and hoax bomb threats specifically directed at synagogues.
