(TargetLiberty.org) – A California family says they’ve been banned from entering their own fire-swept property to evaluate the damage caused by the state’s ongoing wildfires. Adding insult to injury, Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) and state governor Gavin Newsom (D) visited for a photo opportunity without their permission.
The Patten family of Auberry, CA, were forced to evacuate their home as fires raged across Fresno County. The house was destroyed by the blaze. Then, on Tuesday, September 15, Harris and Newsom turned up to have their photos taken looking serious and talking about climate change.
Spent time surveying a burn site with @GavinNewsom in an area that has been devastated by the recent wildfires in California. I’m incredibly grateful for the courage of our brave firefighters and those who have come near and far to help those fleeing the destruction. pic.twitter.com/EHSUPgkOsl

Of course, they didn’t bother to clear their visit with the Pattens first – and the homeowners’ son Trampas took to Facebook to let them know how unhappy he was. He said his parents haven’t even been allowed back in themselves, yet “these two felt the need to go traipsing around my parents [sic] property without permission.” His sister joined the criticism, pointing out her first sight of her destroyed childhood home was in a politician’s social media feed. She said they used her family’s loss to “parade it all over social media and news networks” to push their agenda.
It’s probably safe to say the Pattens won’t be voting to make Harris vice-president when November rolls around.
