(TargetLiberty.org) – On Tuesday, Eric Trump, son of former President Donald Trump, predicted that the Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling to have his father barred from the Republican primary in the state because of the 14th Amendment was actually going to help improve Donald Trump’s position in the polls.
Eric Trump noted that he predicted that the ruling would help increase Donald Trump’s position in the polls by five points. Trump has consistently remained at the top of all of the Republican primary polls over the last few months, despite the four legal criminal cases he is facing and his ongoing New York civil fraud lawsuit.
Decision Desk and The Hill noted that as of Tuesday it appeared that Donald Trump had around 64.9 percent of the vote while former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley had the support of 10.8 percent. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis had fallen to third place with 10.7 percent.
Regarding a hypothetical general election between Trump and President Biden, the race appeared to be tight, with Trump having the lead in many key battleground states.
On Tuesday, a New York Times/Siena poll found that Trump was leading in a general presidential race by 2 percent among registered voters.
On Tuesday the Colorado Supreme Court ruled that due to Trump’s alleged involvement in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack he would be barred from participating in the state’s primary race because of the 14th Amendment which blocks anyone who had taken an oath in support of the Constitution who had engaged in insurrection from holding office again.
