Dutch Police Fire Upon Protesting Farmers Crushed By Climate Regulations

Dutch Police Open Fire On Their Own Citizens — You Won’t Believe Why

(TargetLiberty.org) – Dutch farmers have recently been up in arms about the government’s plan to chop their use of ammonia fertilizer in half and cut emissions from their animal manure in the name of a greener environment. During their most recent protest, where protesters used tractors to block traffic, the police fired at the farmers in order to get them to disperse.

Friesland authorities stated they were warning shots, and no one was injured, but they did open an investigation into the matter. Officials at the scene said the farmers tried to drive into the officers and their vehicles, but others say the protest was peaceful.

For days, the group blocked the way to “supermarket distribution centers,” causing many to worry about shortages in the food supply. The farmers are upset about the government’s plans because slashing livestock and fertilizer leaves them with an uncertain future for their industry. The workers also claim the Dutch government is targeting them unfairly. Although Amsterdam officials appointed someone to liaise between the two parties, Prime Minister Mark Rutte said he will not negotiate with those involved in the protests.

The day after the incident, the group moved the demonstration and their tractors to the Groningen Airport. As of now, the gathering has been without incident.
