(TargetLiberty.org) – On Sunday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) criticized “leftist politicians” and touted the “massive gains” of his state during a speech in California. DeSantis is widely expected to join the 2024 presidential race later this year.

In his address at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Southern California with the Orange County GOP, stated that there has been a massive “American exodus” from states ruled by leftist politicians who are not delivering results and are instead just pushing their leftist ideology. He added that at the same time, states like Florida had had “massive gains” because they continue to rule with the principles “that President Reagan held dear.”

The governor further said that the Florida blueprint is focused on protecting freedom. This trip came exactly one year before the California presidential primary and is one of the many stops that DeSantis is making as he promotes his book “The Courage to Be Free: Florida’s Blueprint for America’s Revival.”

DeSantis has repeatedly stated that currently, his focus is the Florida legislative session and that it will be after that that he will make a final decision on whether or not he will run for the White House. DeSantis currently comes in second place in most polls concerning the GOP primary, with only former President Donald Trump who announced his presidential bid shortly after the 2022 midterm elections in November beating him.
