(TargetLiberty.org) – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) stated in a recent interview that former President Donald Trump would be a risky choice for the GOP nomination in 2024 and that he only had a “small” chance of managing to beat President Biden. He added that Trump was also not going to be able to easily get the required talent in order to “get the job done” if he manages to win the White House.
DeSantis, who is currently battling with former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley for second place in the GOP primary race, appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” where he was asked what his thoughts were about Trump leading the presidential race in the party.
In response, DeSantis argued that Trump was a “high-risk” option and that he believed that there was a small chance that he would be elected. He added that if he did end up being elected there would also be a “low reward” as he would be “a lame duck” from the first day and would not be able to get the necessary talent to work in his administration. DeSantis also pointed out that there would be many distractions that made it close to impossible for him to actually get the work he would need to get done.
The Florida governor also pointed out that there is not a big age difference between Trump and Biden and that being president was not a job for someone over the age of 80.
Trump and Biden are around three and a half years apart. If Trump were to win the White House he would be 79 when taking office, while Biden would be 82. DeSantis on the other hand is only 44 right now.
