DeSantis CRUSHES Democrat Opponent Despite Elitist Support

( – Florida’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis shot into the national spotlight during the pandemic because of his response. Unlike other states, the conservative’s lockdown was very short. He later revealed he regretted even the short period when he did have restrictions in place. He thought it was important to get Floridians back to normalcy as quickly as possible so they didn’t suffer economically.

As the governor’s re-election approaches, polls show him in a very solid position. His endorsements are piling up, while his opponent is receiving support from an ultra Leftist.

DeSantis Support

Governor DeSantis is receiving strong endorsements from some of the biggest names in the state. On August 25, the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association (FRLA) and the Florida Retail Federation (FRF) each endorsed him.

According to a press release, FRLA President Carol Dover said the governor has “been a strong supporter” of the hospitality industry. She explained that he kept businesses open during the COVID-19 pandemic when other states refused. In doing so, she believes his “leadership saved countless jobs and businesses” while also enabling the “industry to thrive once again.”

FRF President Scott Shalley said the retailers in the Sunshine State were “grateful” for the governor’s leadership. Like Dover, he praised DeSantis for refusing to lockdown the state for an extended period of time thus allowing companies to “prosper.”

Florida Realtors also threw their support behind the Republican leader. Margy Grant, the CEO of the organization, called him a “true champion of the real estate industry and the professionals who work within it.”

It’s not just industry heads who are supporting the governor, the Florida Professional Firefighters endorsed DeSantis in July. The organization represents 26,000 firefighters and it was the first time the organization chose a candidate in 20 years.

Democratic Endorsements

Democratic candidate Charlie Crist, who previously served as Florida’s governor from 2007 to 2011 as a Republican, received a nod from a big name — in California. Governor Gavin Newsom (D) tweeted his support and asked his followers to donate.

Newsom not only doesn’t live in Florida, obviously, but he locked his state down for more than a year during the pandemic. In fact, he’s often referred to as the top “U-Haul salesman” because there was once a shortage of moving vehicles in the Golden State. There’s no greater way for Crist to have demonstrated that he intends to take the state in a radically different direction than an endorsement from DeSantis’ polar opposite.
