( – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis recently attacked former President Donald Trump over his recent criticisms of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following the surprise attack on October 7 by Hamas. DeSantis further claimed that the “real Donald Trump”  only showed when he was not saying what was written on a teleprompter.

DeSantis, who is currently number two in the 2024 Republican primary polls and is considered to be Trump’s closest rival in the race, made the attacks against the former President during a campaign appearance in New Hampshire on Friday.

On Wednesday Trump slammed the Israeli Prime Minister and argued that he was never going to forget how Netanyahu had let the U.S. down by attempting to take credit for the killing of Iranian Revolutionary Guard Quds Force Major General Qasem Soleimani. He further praised Hezbollah, a Lebanese militant group that is backed by Iran and is one of the key Hamas allies for being smart. His attack also extended to Yoav Gallant, the Israeli Defense Minister whom Trump referred to as a “jerk.”

On Friday, Trump attempted to take back some of these remarks through a post on his social media platform Truth Social in which he wrote that he stood by both Israel and the country’s Prime Minister.

DeSantis alleged that the reason why Trump originally slammed Netanyahu was because the Israeli Prime Minister had congratulated President Biden following his 2020 presidential election victory. He added that he believes there are two versions of Donald Trump, the one that reads off the teleprompter and the other one that is speaking on his own without the teleprompter. He argued that the latter was the “real” Trump.
