(TargetLiberty.org) – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is currently running in the 2024 Republican presidential primary, has vowed that if he wins the presidential election then states would be equal partners in border policy enforcement. As he stated during a new interview with Glenn Beck, if he is the President he is going to unleash the state when it comes to immigration law being enforced.

As he argued, the state’s government should be given the right to expel anyone who had illegally entered the country. He added that currently there is a big process that requires going to court among other stuff.

He then proceeded to state that securing the southern border was not exclusively the responsibility of the federal government. This is why he claimed that his administration was going to collaborate with states in order to help secure the border. He added that many people say that the border is a federal responsibility, but when they have a stronger border policy in place the state can help enforce it if needed.

DeSantis further added that over 400,000 Venezuelans were just given work permits by the Biden administration. In order to deal with the surge of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border, Biden also announced that an additional 800 new troops would be sent to the southern border.

Biden has been heavily criticized over his border policy with many governors pointing out that their shelters are overflowing and their resources are strained. In a letter led by Montana’s Greg Gianforte, 25 governors also requested from Biden more information regarding the immigrants who entered and were released or processed in the U.S.
