(TargetLiberty.org) – The long-awaited impeachment trial started today and Democrats have already suffered multiple losses.
During the trial, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) requested an amendment to the Senate’s impeachment rules. The amendment would have allowed the Senate to subpoena the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), which is the largest office serving the Executive Office of the President of the US (EOP).
As soon as Senator McConnell offers this resolution, I will be offering amendments to address the many flaws in this deeply unfair proposal and to subpoena the witnesses and documents we have requested. pic.twitter.com/g25Xl8RTmU

Schumer and other Democrats claim that the OMB has records and communications involving the charges made against the POTUS. Members of OMB’s staff were subpoenaed separately back in December, and all chose to ignore them.
The amendment was rejected with a vote of 53-47, which is right along party lines. This seemed to be a recurring theme as other amendments to the trial’s processes were rejected throughout the day.
We’ll keep you updated as the impeachment trial continues this week.
