(TargetLiberty.org) – New York is going to play an important role in the Democrat’s hopes to win back the House. The state’s map is going to need to be redrawn for the 2024 election, as the previous version that was used for the 2022 midterm election and was created by a court-appointed special master was only meant to act as a temporary solution.
If the Democrat’s plans go accordingly, they might be able to pick up anywhere between three and five House seats which could help them make Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (N.Y.) the Speaker.
Democratic party officials and officeholders have both argued that Jeffries is going to play an important role in the redistricting process. They further note that New York is going to benefit from the Democrats winning the majority and Jeffries becoming the Speaker.
The Senate is already under the control of the Democrats, with the Senate majority leader being Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.). If the House are successful in taking back the House then their party is going to be in complete control of Congress.
One Democratic official argued regarding the redistricting process that Jeffries is both liked and respected which is why they would be “crazy” not to listen to him.
There are a few seats in New York that the Democrats are hoping to win, including Rep. George Santos’s (R-N.Y.) seat. Santos, who has been disgraced as a result of the lies he has said during his previous campaigns, was representing the 3rd Congressional District which the Democrats are hoping to flip in 2024.
