(TargetLiberty.org) – On Sunday, David Axelrod, a senior adviser to former President Barack Obama, suggested that following a recent poll in which former President Donald Trump is leading the presidential race against President Joe Biden, Biden should drop out of the race. The poll found that Biden was behind Trump in five out of six key battleground states.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Axelrod commented on the recent New York Times and Siena College poll noting that it was too late to “change horses” and that there were many things that would happen in 2024. He also pointed out that Biden was set on running.
However, as he noted while Biden had a right to be proud of everything he had accomplished there were a lot of things that were going to take place that were impossible to predict. He added that the recent poll number of the President should make the Democratic Party doubt their choice and be legitimately concerned.
In a separate post, he called Trump “dangerous” and an “unhinged demagogue” who did not conform to laws and rules and as such he needed to be disqualified from the presidential race. As he pointed out, the stakes in the presidential race were too high to be ignored, but it was up to Joe Biden to make a decision.
Axelrod continued by saying that if Biden decided to continue his campaign, he would certainly be the party’s nominee but that it was important for him to consider whether that was the right choice for both himself and the country.
