Democrats Attempt To Bury Twitter Files

(TargetLiberty.org) On Wednesday the Democrats argued that the Republicans were trying to use political stunts during the GOP’s first hearing with former Twitter executives.

Republicans during the hearing of the House Oversight and Accountability asked former Twitter executives about their decision to limit the spread of the story about Hunter Biden’s laptop ahead of the 2020 Presidential election. The hearing was part of the GOP’s promise to investigate the censorship taking place in social media companies of conservative material.

Republicans pushed for information from the former Twitter employees asking about the internal communications that were released as part of a Twitter thread in December.

Ranking member Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) said that he was not entirely sure how they could stop private social media platforms from being used by organizations to incite violent coups and insurrections, but this is a big program that could threaten American democracy and democracy all over the world.

However, not everyone was happy about having the hearing. Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.) called the hearing a waste of time and an attempt to just bully the former Twitter executives.

The hearing was predominantly focused on Twitter’s decision to limit the reach of the New York Post story concerning Hunter Biden’s laptop in 2020. Twitter did change its decision at some point and allowed the story to be more widely circulated. Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey called the decisions regarding this case a mistake.
