(TargetLiberty.org) – Representative Ro Khanna (D-CA) wants there to be three genders on passports from now on. The lawmaker introduced a bill to make it happen.
The bill would require the State Department to put a gender-neutral option on passport applications. He believes that the US doesn’t accept everyone’s gender and he is going to put a stop to that:
For those who already have a driver’s license or birth certificate with an “X” marker, the bill *does not* require them to list a corresponding “X” on their passport. Americans should be able to make the decision that is safest for themselves when traveling.

Right now, passport applications only have M or F options. Khanna thinks that people shouldn’t be forced to mark down the gender they were assigned at birth. He said the bill will bring the US into the “21st century.”
Even if the bill passes the House, there’s little chance it will ever see the light of day in the Senate. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) doesn’t like to bring bills to the floor that are so partisan in nature and instead prefers to focus on judicial nominees.
