(TargetLiberty.org) – Democrats are pushing ahead with their pro-immigration agenda, trying to not just restart but expand an Obama-era amnesty program for undocumented immigrants. Now, Conservatives are pushing back.

On June 15, the Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing on “The American Dream and Promise Act,” which aims to hand US citizenship to millions of people who entered the country illegally. It’s an attempt to build on Barack Obama’s DACA program, which delayed enforcement action against immigrants who came here as children. Former President Donald Trump started the process of scrapping DACA, but the case is still tied up in the courts.
Now, Conservatives are urging Senate Republicans to resist any move to resurrect and broaden DACA. The Federation for Immigration Reform, The Heritage Foundation and America First Policy Institute have all called on senators to remember the border crisis and resist any plan that would make it worse. With more than 180,000 immigrants caught at the border in May alone, the last thing we need is an incentive for more to cross.
