(TargetLiberty.org) – The New York Times and CNN are reporting that Attorney General William Barr has hired an outside team to go over the Justice Department’s case against Michael Flynn and other high-profile cases.
Michael Flynn was the National Security Adviser for 20 days at the beginning of 2017. He resigned and was later found guilty of lying to investigators during Robert Mueller’s Russian investigation.
According to reports, US Attorney Jeffrey Jensen and Chief of the Foreign Agents Registration Act Unit Brandon Van Grack are being asked to review the details. Van Grack is a former prosecutor who worked with Robert Mueller in the original case against Flynn.
Jensen is expected to look into how the FBI handled Flynn’s January 2017 interview and his plea deal later that year. Flynn’s lawyers have argued that he was ambushed during the January meeting.
Flynn still doesn’t have a sentencing date, but one is expected to come after Barr’s inquiry.
