(TargetLiberty.org) – Local government in California’s third-most populous county has decided to force its residents to wear masks any time they leave home – but the sheriff doesn’t agree. Orange County’s Health officer issued an order last Friday that, among other things, mandated masks in public places or where social distancing is impossible.
It’s now emerged that on Tuesday Michelle Steele, chair of the county’s Board of Supervisors, asked Sheriff Don Barnes how he planned to enforce the order. Barnes’s reply was simple – he doesn’t.

“We are not the mask police,” Barnes told the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday. He says throughout the crisis, Orange County residents have acted responsibly, they’re adults, and “…they can take the protective measures as they see fit.” He added that he’ll be directing his staff not to enforce public mask-wearing.
