(TargetLiberty.org) – On Monday Night, the Border Patrol Union blasted the Department of Homeland Security Monday for announcing an operation to be carried out by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers on Tuesday in El Paso, Texas. The operation would seek to either remove or detain illegal immigrants.

However, the Border Patrol Union has blasted the federal government for issuing an announcement about the operation which could potentially lead to migrants being tipped off only hours before the operation begins.

The operations are currently set to take place in El Paso, where around 2,200 migrants are camped out on the streets only blocks away from a major port of entry that allows passage from the Mexican city of Juárez to the U.S. In a tweet on Monday, the Border Patrol criticized the announcement stating that there was “nothing like” informing a group of potentially dangerous people that they were going to be arrested soon, giving them the time to “run and hide” in order to evade the authorities.

The National Border Patrol Council also blasted this decision, claiming that this was not the action that “serious law enforcement leaders” would take and adding that the entire operation was a “sad joke” and “another pandering PR stunt.”

The federal government is currently preparing for the expiration of Title 42 and the surge in migration that it will cause. Fox News Digital also reported on Monday that near El Paso the influx of immigrants has led to more than 26,000 apprehensions and over 7,000 “gotaways” within 72 hours.
