( – Rep. Lauren Boebert recent criticism of President Joe Biden over the recent wildfires in Maui, Hawaii led to a lot of backlash.

The wildfire which spread across the island and destroyed the town of Lahaina led to the death of at least 106 people. According to authorities, this is the deadliest U.S. wildfire in over a century.

On Saturday, Colorado Representative Boebert took to social media to attack Biden over his being in Delaware spending the weekend in his Rehoboth Beach home while the fires in Hawaii were raging. As she wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, there is a crisis in Maui with more than 3000 homes destroyed and over 80 people dead, and yet Biden was on vacation.

However, many blasted Boebert for this comment, pointing out that Biden had declared a major disaster in Maui last week.

Ed Krassenstein, a journalist, pointed out that Biden was not there fighting a fire considering he was not a firefighter. He added that the “fake outrage” was “annoying” and that most likely Biden was going to provide all possible aid to Hawaii.

On Thursday Biden had pledged that they would ensure that those who had lost their homes and loved ones would receive help immediately. He also added that the Federal Emergency Management Agency was sending many emergency personnel to the island so that they could assist survivors with receiving the necessary federal assistance.

Others also pointed out that  Hawaii Gov. Josh Green has already spoken about the support that President Biden has provided. In a post, Green had written that while recovery would take time, they have received support from every level of government, including Biden who signed the disaster declaration request.
