(TargetLiberty.org) – Representative Lauren Boebert, a Republican from Colorado, appears to be advocating for the expulsion of Representative Jamaal Bowman, a Democrat from New York, in the wake of the recent ousting of George Santos, a Republican representative from New York, from Congress.
The departure of Santos, who faced a 23-count federal indictment, came after a condemning report by the House Ethics Committee. The House voted 311 to 114 for his removal, with the motion receiving support from nearly all Democrats and 105 Republicans. This event marked Santos as only the sixth individual in U.S. history to be expelled from the House. On another note, Bowman, serving New York’s 16th District since 2021, admitted guilt in October to a misdemeanor related to falsely triggering a fire alarm in the Cannon building in Washington, D.C. This incident occurred during a critical vote on a bill to prevent a partial government shutdown in September.
Bowman’s office stated that he agreed to a deal with prosecutors, involving a $1,000 fine and a formal apology letter to U.S. Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger, leading to the dismissal of all charges against him.
In a conversation with the Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF), published on Saturday, Boebert argued for Bowman’s expulsion, contrasting his situation with that of Santos. She highlighted that Bowman has been convicted of a crime, while Santos has not been found guilty. Boebert expressed her concern over the precedent set by these events, deeming it both terrible and shameful.
