(TargetLiberty.org) – On Wednesday, the White House spokesperson released a statement in support of Attorney General Merrick Garland claiming that the recent House Judiciary Committee hearing was part of a “distraction campaign.”
Sams took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state that the House had used the hearing as a “not-so-sophisticated” way to distract the public from the fact that the government was heading towards a shutdown. He added that they are not even able to pass a military funding bill because of the demands of the extreme House GOP members who are pushing for excessive spending cuts and are pushing to cut “thousands of preschool slots” and “law enforcement jobs” across the nation.
As he pointed out, the Republican lawmakers had attempted to distract through a “cranked up” “circus” that was filled with disinformation and lies and was just attempting to attack the President and his family.
Earlier that day Garland had been called to provide answers to many questions regarding the Department of Justice’s handling of the Hunter Biden prove, as well as the decision to only pursue the felony gun charges. They further questioned his decision to appoint U.S. Attorney David Weiss as special counsel despite the controversial sweetheart plea deal he had reached with Hunter Biden, which eventually fell through.
Garland however in his response tried to deny the accusations that Weiss previously lacked the authority to file charges against Hunter Biden in any state in the country he wanted. As he stated, if this was something Weiss had wished to do even before becoming special counsel, he would have been able to do it.
