(TargetLiberty.org) – The Biden administration is planning another assault on our Second Amendment rights. Monday’s ban on so-called “ghost guns” is just the first infringement President Biden wants to impose on law-abiding gun owners. A whole string of popular firearms are in the president’s sights.

On April 11, Biden nominated Steven Dallenbach, an anti-gun former US Attorney, as the new head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF). Then, the president announced a crackdown on self-manufactured guns, which are often called “ghost guns” because they’re exempt from the serial number requirement imposed on commercially-produced weapons.
The gun is usually sold as a partly-machined receiver – the component that’s classified as a firearm under federal law – which can be finished by the owner with standard power tools, then built up into a complete weapon with a parts kit. Now the administration wants the kits reclassified as firearms and subjected to the same restrictions.
The National Rifle Association (NRA), on the other hand, says the ban is useless as long as Democrat-run cities are soft on crime.
Biden has already tried to reclassify many stabilizing braces for handguns as stocks, turning the handguns into short-barreled rifles that need a $200 NFA tax stamp. On Monday, he also threatened to resurrect the 1994 ban on “assault weapons” and high-capacity magazines – even though a Justice Department study at the time said its impact on gun crime would be “small at best.”
During his election campaign, Biden claimed he wasn’t a gun grabber, but since he took office he’s launched a series of attacks on gun rights. His obsession with weapons is widening splits in our already divided country – and it’s probably a wasted effort anyway, because he doesn’t have the votes to get any of his proposals through the Senate.
