(TargetLiberty.org) – On Friday President Biden told reporters in Lake Tahoe that he had not received any requests to be interviewed by special counsel in connection to the investigation into his handling of classified documents. The documents date back to Biden’s time as Vice President and were found in his home and private office.
According to an early August NBC News report, Bidne’s attorneys had been having discussions with the special counsel’s team to determine what the terms of a potential interview would be. However, this report was never confirmed by the White House of Biden’s lawyers.
In January, Attorney General Merrick Garland had appointed Robert Hur to act as special counsel in Biden’s case relating to the documents that had been found at his University of Pennsylvania office in Washington, D.C., and his Wilmington, Del., home.
Biden has claimed that he had committed no wrongdoing and that as soon as he had discovered the documents which were accidentally in his possession he had informed the Department of Justice so that they could recover the documents. This is a stark difference to former President Donald Trump who actively resisted having the classified documents he held in Mar-a-Lago returned to the federal government after he left the White House in 2021.
Trump’s case is overseen by Special Counsel Jack Smith and it has already led to 40 charges being filed against Trump for retaining around 300 documents with classified markings in his Mar-a-Lago estate. The documents from Mar-a-Lago were recovered during an FBI raid.
