(TargetLiberty.org) – President Biden praised Sen. Joe Manchin who recently announced that he would not be seeking re-election. Biden pointed out that there have been various legislations that were passed during Machin’s time in office.

In a statement released, Biden argued that over four decades Manchin had remained dedicated to serving the people of his state, West Virginia. Biden added that during his time serving as Vice President and President, they had collaborated in order to accomplish things that would help American families. He concluded that everyone in the Manchin family ought to feel proud of Manchin’s time in office and that he was looking forward to continuing to work with him in order to get more things done for the country.

Biden also took the opportunity to mention the various bills and legislations that Manchin was involved in, including the PACT Act, the bipartisan infrastructure law, the fun safety law, and a number of other bipartisan victories. He also spoke about the Senator’s role in the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson.

On Thursday, 76-year-old Manchin announced that he would not be seeking reelection in 2024. This decision is most likely going to result in his seat flipping as West Virginia is a deep red state. While thus far Manchin has not explicitly rejected the possibility of launching an independent presidential bid, he did say in his Thursday statement that he intended to travel across the United States and see whether there was support for the creation of a movement that would unite Americans and “mobilize the middle.”
