(TargetLiberty.org) – The former Homeland Security agent and undercover operative Tim Ballard who is the inspiration behind the film “Sound of Freedom” recently called for the Biden administration to look for the 85,000 unaccompanied minors who had entered into the country through the U.S.-Mexico border. Ballard, who was part of the efforts to rescue child sex trafficking victims, joined Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., in his demands.

Smith had previously announced during a press conference a new legislation called the Safeguarding Endangered Children, Unaccompanied and at Risk of Exploitation Act of 2023. The bill was going to push the federal government to find and establish wellness checks for the unaccompanied minors who had entered the country, while also looking into the suspicions of possible human trafficking cases.

The unaccounted-for children were released from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) custody and contact with them has since been lost. Smith pointed out that they needed to address the risk of the thousands of unaccompanied minors having become victims of human trafficking or abuse. He further argued that this situation was caused by the failed open border policies of the Biden administration.

He proceeded to introduce Ballard who he referred to as a “hero.” Ballard then stated that the current HHS data show that there are at least 85,000 children who have disappeared within the country and that those children are at risk of becoming victims of child exploitation. He added that this is the effect of the refusal to secure the border and it should be a horrifying thing for every American.
