(TargetLiberty.org) – On Wednesday, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre argued that President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill Biden, were “proud” of Hunter Biden, Joe Biden’s son, despite his recent indictment and his refusal to testify before Congress following a subpoena.
As she noted, the first couple was proud of Hunter Biden’s efforts to rebuild his life. These remarks were made by Jean-Pierre during the White House press briefing where she was asked whether the first couple had watched the press conference outside the U.S. Capitol, where Hunter Biden had announced that he would not be complying with the House Republicans’ subpoena.
As she pointed out, President Joe Biden had been familiar with what his son was planning to say. She added that Hunter Biden’s remarks during the press conference had been from “the heart.”
Jean-Pierre refused to say whether President Biden was okay with his son’s decision to defy the subpoena and stated that she would not be making any specific comments about President Biden’s views. She also refused to disclose when the last time Hunter Biden and Joe Biden had spoken had been and argued that these were private conversations.
Later in the briefing, Jean-Pierre was asked about Biden’s earlier comments that those who defied congressional subpoenas needed to be prosecuted. This was a comment he had made in 2021 during the Jan. 6 House committee investigation. However, she refused to comment on that, stating that she did not have anything to add to the President’s remarks that had been quoted back to her.
