(TargetLiberty.org) – Biden admits it’s a “mistake” that he suggested he wanted to put a “bull’s-eye” on Trump.
In an interview President Joe Biden had with NBC News, that aired on Monday, the President acknowledged it was a “mistake” to suggest during a private call with donors last week that it was “time to put Trump in the bull’s eye.”
In the private call with donors last week, Biden attempted to boost support for his hemorrhaging candidacy. During the call, Biden declared being “done” discussing his dismal debate performance and instead shifted focus by suggesting that it was time for the former President to be put in the “bull’s-eye,” claiming the former President hadn’t been scrutinized enough for his stances, campaigning, and rhetoric.
Speaking to NBC anchor Lester Holt, Biden maintained his opinion that “there was a very little focus on Trump’s agenda,” but admitted he made a “mistake,” with what he stated about Trump on the call. Yet, the President noted he still wanted attention to shift to what Trump is saying.
Biden suggested it was Trump and not him that would engage in that type of rhetoric, referencing the former President’s remarks about there being a “bloodbath” should he lose the election in November.
Biden queried how the subject should be broached “about the threat to democracy,” and how to discuss what Trump says, questioning whether he should “just not say anything” as it may “incite somebody?”
The interview, which airs on Monday, comes as Biden’s campaign prepares to ramp up campaigning again after the attempted assassination of Trump on Saturday and hours after Trump announced Senator J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) would be his running mate.
Biden had scheduled the interview before the attempt on Trump’s life as it had been part of his efforts to show his fitness to run for office and hold it for another four years despite his terrible debate performance.
