Biden Administration Asks for Help Amid Border Crisis

Federal Employees Asked to Help With Border Crisis for Paid Leave

( – The crisis at the border is spinning out of control. President Joe Biden has put Vice President Kamala Harris in charge of diplomacy to help fix the problem, but it seems the only thing she’s done up to this point is send financial aid to the Northern Triangle (Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador) countries. Now, the administration is asking federal employees to take on a new task.

On April 6, The Intercept reporter Ken Klippenstein posted a screenshot on Twitter of an internal email asking NASA officials to volunteer at the border. The employees were asked to volunteer for a 120-day deployment to border facilities where unaccompanied minors are being held.

The New York Times reported that the administration was offering paid leave to federal employees who offer to help.

Thousands of minors are currently being held at the border and there have been allegations of abuse and sexual assault in at least one facility. If this email is any indication of how the Biden administration is handling the crisis, it’s likely safe to say it is not going well.
