Biden Admin Cracks Down On One Of The Biggest Lobbying Industries In The Nation

(TargetLiberty.org) – The dangers of smoking and nicotine addiction are well-documented, but it isn’t just traditional cigarettes that contribute to health problems. Over the last decade, E-cigarettes have become very popular, raising concerns across multiple administrations. President Joe Biden’s officials have now cracked down on one company.

On June 23, the FDA sent marketing denial orders to JUUL Labs Inc. regarding all of the products currently marketed in America. The notice from the administration comes three years after former President Donald Trump banned flavored vaping liquid. The new order means the company has to stop selling four types of JUULpods. The menthol-flavored pods that include nicotine concentrations of 3% and 5% are both banned, as are the Virginia tobacco-flavored pods with the same percentages of nicotine.

The decision to go after JUUL in 2019, and now, has to do with the company’s popularity among teenagers. Both the Trump and Biden administrations wanted to reduce the number of teenagers who develop nicotine habits. In 2021, the company agreed to a $40-million settlement in North Carolina and said it would change its business practices as e-cigarette use among children rose.

In the announcement, the FDA Commissioner Dr. Robert M. Califf said the new actions taken against JUUL will ensure all e-cigarette manufacturers meet the US’ “public health standards.”

Do you agree with the ban or believe Americans should have the right to decide for themselves?
