(TargetLiberty.org) – With the Democrats appearing close to taking a beating in November’s upcoming midterm elections, President Biden is trying to talk up his performance on the economy in a desperate effort to shore up his collapsing support. His claims are often disputed – but now a journalist says even if they were true, it doesn’t really matter. Inflation is what voters care about now.
Axios reporter says Biden's economic accomplishments are 'largely irrelevant' amid high inflation, gas priceshttps://t.co/EGp5krAjin

On April 1, Biden told journalists his administration had managed “Record job creation; Record unemployment declines; Record wage gains”. All these claims are open to dispute or have other explanations – for example, unemployment has fallen because people laid off during the COVID pandemic have been rehired. However, on Sunday, Axios correspondent Hans Nichols told Fox News whatever Biden has achieved on the economy is “largely irrelevant” – because rising prices are what matters to Americans..
Nichols said “There is one number they can’t really change right now… what the placard says at the local gas station” as he dismissed Biden’s claims about jobs. He pointed out the only thing the administration can do to fix it is to bring down the price of gasoline. A recent poll shows 41% of Americans blame Biden’s policies for the rising fuel prices driving inflation – well ahead of the 24% each who blame the war in Ukraine or profiteering by oil companies.
Creating jobs is great – but if people can’t’ afford to drive to work, it doesn’t make much of a difference.
