AOC Doesn't Want to Talk About Low Gas Prices Under Trump

( – Motormouth Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has slammed Republicans who claim that gas prices were lower under President Trump. There’s just one problem with her argument. Gas prices were lower under President Trump.

Last weekend, Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) pointed out that gas prices – which are now heading for $7 a gallon in some parts of the country – were averaging about $2.17 a gallon this time in 2020, when Donald Trump was president. AOC immediately went on the attack, accusing Blackburn of “missing context,” then widened her assault to include all Republicans who have complained about high gas prices. She claimed comparing gas prices early in the COVID pandemic was equivalent to criticizing Trump for unemployment figures that peaked months later, when driven by shelter-at-home orders issued by Democratic state governments.

It looks like AOC is trying to distract attention from any comparison of gas prices now and under Trump, and there’s probably a very good reason for that. She isn’t just fully on board with Biden’s attacks on the US energy industry; just days ago she criticized him for not going even further. Following Biden’s State of the Union address, AOC complained that it was a “lost opportunity” to promote the green agenda and move America away from fossil fuels and towards electric vehicles. So the reason AOC doesn’t want people talking about low gas prices is that she thinks high gas prices are a great idea.
