Andrew Cuomo Investigation Extends to Aide's Calls

( – New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) is currently under investigation for a number of alleged misdeeds. He has been accused of sexual harassment, misuse of state resources, and covering up the number of people who died in nursing homes during the pandemic. Now, the sexual misconduct investigation is reportedly expanding to cover the roll-out of vaccines, as well.

According to the Wall Street Journal on May 9, the NY Attorney General Letitia James (D) is reportedly looking into whether the governor politicized the rollout of vaccines. The expansion allegedly came after three Democratic county executives said one of the governor’s top advisors who was overseeing vaccine distribution, Larry Schwartz, reached out to them to ask if they were planning to call on Cuomo to resign. The aide is accused of contacting half a dozen executives in March to see who was going to support the governor at a time when they were speaking to Schwartz about vaccine distribution.

In March, Cuomo’s counsel, Beth Garvey, defended Schwartz’s phone calls saying that “distorting Larry’s role or intentions for headlines maligns” someone who has served the public for decades. Recently, however, the governor’s office declined to comment on the matter again. Cuomo is still refusing to step down.
