Americans Told To Stay Out Of Where?

State Department Says No

(TargetLiberty.org) – On Saturday, the NAACP released a formal travel advisory warning those who are planning to travel to Florida, that the state is “hostile to Black Americans” under Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R).

In the travel advisory, it is specifically noted that the governor, along with the state legislature, which currently has a GOP supermajority, are looking for ways to silence African-American voters. They further added that their recent moves make it clear that African Americans were not welcome in Florida.

The group proceeded to write that due to this “systemic attack on democracy and civil rights” they were issuing a travel advisory for people of color who were preparing to go on a trip to Florida to be aware of the increased hostility levels. The advisory specifically points to many different measures that the DeSantis government has put through, including the recent prohibition that blocks colleges from spending public funds on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Previous legislation signed by DeSantis also includes the Stop WOKE Act, which restricted workplaces and schools from discussing race during training or teaching. He further prohibited an Advanced Placement African American Studies course from being introduced in the state’s public schools because it allegedly lacked “educational value.”

The NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson in a statement noted that not teaching about representation and the inequalities that Black Americans have had to face would be a disservice to students. He added that under DeSantis’s leadership, the state had become increasingly hostile to Black Americans and had moved away from the Democratic ideals that the United States was founded upon.
