(TargetLiberty.org) – In response to the obvious crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border, 26 governors have joined together to launch the American Governors’ Border Strike Force. The leaders’ focus will be on strengthening cybersecurity, sharing information, keeping families and children safe, and filling in the immigration policy gaps in the Biden administration.
The strike force will also concentrate on reducing criminal activity associated with the border, including the dangerous drugs funneling in from Mexico.

On April 18, the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) released a report showing March immigration numbers at their highest in over 20 years. Governors Greg Abbott (R-TX) and Doug Ducey (R-AZ) announced the formation on April 19, stating the grouping mimics the Arizona Border Strike Force already functioning in The Grand Canyon State. The Arizona leader says the force works in his state, so it should also work in other areas as well. He stated if the southern border to the United States isn’t secure, neither is the rest of the nation.
The formation of the task force is just in time for President Joe Biden’s plan to lift Title 42 on May 23, eliminating the swift process of expelling migrants back to their home countries. The 24 other members involved in the group include leaders of both Republican and Democratic-led states.
