A List of Democrats Who Voted Against Additional SCOTUS Security

These Are The Incredulous Lawmakers That Voted Against Protecting Supreme Court Justices

(TargetLiberty.org) – Democrats have grown increasingly more hostile against the Supreme Court (SCOTUS) over the last few years. They were especially angry when former President Donald Trump appointed three justices to the court, swinging it from slightly liberal to staunchly conservative. The animosity toward the court has grown exponentially since an April leak of a draft for the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization

Since the leak, Conservatives on the court have had to grapple with protesters screaming at them outside of their homes. They have received threats, and an assassin even plotted to take one of the justices out. More than two dozen Democrats recently voted against giving the justices more security.

Congress Passes Bill

On Tuesday, June 14, the House of Representatives passed S. 4160, Supreme Court Police Parity Act, to enhance the security for the country’s SCOTUS justices. The legislation would provide police protection to the immediate family members of the justices, like their kids and spouses, and court employees if the “Marshal determines such protection is necessary.”

The legislation unanimously passed in the Senate in May and then made it through the House 396 to 27. All of the legislators who voted against the bill were members of the Democratic Party, including all of the progressive members of “The Squad”.

Safety Compromised

When the draft opinion leaked, a progressive group named “Ruth Sent Us,” a nod to the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, published the conservative justices’ home addresses online. Protesters showed up outside of their homes and began harassing them.

In early June, a California man named Nicholas Roske, 26, traveled to Maryland with a plan to murder Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. The man was spotted outside of the justice’s home, but then left and called the police on himself. He told dispatchers of his plan, and police were able to arrest him. He has now been indicted.

Still, with that happening in the backdrop, 27 Democrats voted not to protect the justices.
