(TargetLiberty.org) – Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie slammed former President Donald Trump for his remarks on Saturday night where he had quoted Russian President Vladimir Putin.

During an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Christie had argued that he believed Trump was increasingly getting worse by the day and that voters needed to start paying more attention to the things he was saying. He added that from the start of his presidency after the 2016 presidential election, he has always approved of Putin. As he pointed out this was something he would often clash with Trump on, as early on as 2017.

CNN’s Jake Tapper had asked for Christie’s response to the recent remarks made by Trump where he quoted Putin during a campaign event. At the rally, Trump stated that Putin had stated that the “politically motivated persecution” against Trump in the United States had shown how rotten the country’s political system was. He added that under these circumstances they could not allege that they were teaching others about democracy.

Christie who has often slammed Trump, questioned why he would portray Putin as someone who was an “expert on democracy.” This is not the first time that Christie has slammed Trump over his positive comments about Putin, as earlier this year he had stated that it was nice seeing that Putin had officially endorsed Trump in the election this year. Christie further pointed out that Putin did not even know anything about democracy and that he had spent his entire life undercutting democracy.
