12 People Arrested in Drug Trafficking Operation

(TargetLiberty.org) – An anti-drug operation in South Carolina has netted 12 traffickers and a huge haul of drugs, cash and guns. It looks like agents have smashed a sophisticated and ambitious drug ring.

On August 12, a joint force of DEA agents, along with state and local cops, arrested 12 people in Anderson County. Federal sources say the operation took down the largest drug trafficking operation ever found in the city. As well as the arrests, the raids recovered:

  • Over 30 pounds of cocaine, worth half a million dollars
  • 5 ounces of heroin
  • 18 pounds of marijuana
  • 10 guns and a quantity of ammunition
  • 3 cars
  • $245,000 in cash

The alleged traffickers have been charged with a total of 34 offenses, including possession with intent to supply, conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, possession of firearms and ammunition by a convicted felon and possession of firearms while trafficking drugs. Acting US Attorney M. Rhett DeHart said that organized crime is a serious challenge to SC communities, but “our commitment to stopping violent drug gangs will never waver.”
